An exploration in form and texture.

Ceramics is endless branching possibilities in the most solid, permanent and functional of forms.

The practise keeps me balanced, focussed and alive.

I am a self-taught ceramicist, working on Dharug and Gundungarra country in Australia’s Blue Mountains. With a long career in making and design, I bring deep and multi-faceted experience to my craft, exploring form and texture for aesthetics as much as functionality. Currently hand building for the majority of my pieces, my process involves using natural objects to create textures in the clay. I am interested in the ergonomics and textural feeling of functional tableware, and work to create pleasure in daily routines and rituals.

Recently learning to use a wheel and throw pieces, I am most excited by creating new processes that involve a combination of throwing and hand-building techniques.

Mindful of the carbon footprint of my work, I source clay from local areas in New South Wales, Australia. For particular pieces, I also dabble in working with wild clay that I responsibly and ethically collect from close to my studio. When decorating, I use a small selection of commercial glazes, and have begun to make glazes using waste products such as eggshells with a view toward sustainable practise.

My ceramics practise began as a relaxation and release from my ‘day job’ responsibilities.

All of my work is produced slowly. The One of a Kind section of my shop contains individual, unique pieces available for sale now, that can be shipped worldwide relatively quickly. All other items are available made to order with a 4-6 week turnaround, allowing me the making time between other commitments.

Thank you for your interest and for taking the time to read about my work.
